Spring 2013 Regular semester hours for the University are M-F 8:00am - 5:00pm. The department office closes from 12:00-1:00.

January 14	First day of regular classes for Spring 2013
January 17	The History Department presents a lecture by Dr. Claudia Koonz, Prof. Emeritus, Duke University: “Islamophobia in Three Shapes: the Muslim Headscarf in France, Britain, and Germany.” Professor Koonz, from Duke University, has written about the spread of racist beliefs and women’s participation in Nazi Germany, and is currently conducting research on gender and Islamophobia in contemporary Europe. The talk will take place Thursday, January 17th 2013 at 5:00 pm in Hellems room 252 on the main Boulder campus. The talk is free and open to the public. Koonz Lecture flyer.pdf
January 21	Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - Campus Holiday - Campus Closed
January 23	Add Deadline (11:59 p.m.). Deadline to add a course, including independent study a and thesis, without the instructor’s signature. After this date, the instructor’s signature is required on a special action form to add a course through February 1. After this date, the system is only available for dropping courses through January 30, the drop deadline. See Drop/Add. Wait List Deadline: Deadline (11:59 p.m.) to add your name to a course wait list.
January 30	Drop Deadline: Deadline (11:59 p.m.) for non A&S students to drop a course without being assessed tuition and fees for that course and without a W grade appearing on the transcript. Students whose only program is Arts & Sciences or Environmental Design, have until March 22 to drop a course without approval signatures.).
February 1	Deadline (5:00 p.m.) to add a course without petitioning your dean. NOTE: Instructors’ signature is required on a special action form to add a course. In general, instructors only approve an add if students have been regularly attending and there’s space in the course. Also Deadline (11:59 p.m.) to change variable-credit hours, pass/fail, and no-credit status on courses without petitioning your dean.
February 27	Deadline (5:00 p.m.) to drop a course without petitioning the dean’s office. Also Deadline for students who have three or more final exams on the same day for Spring semester to make arrangements to change their final exam schedule.
March 22	Deadline for students whose only program is for Arts & Sciences or Environmental Design to drop a course without approval signatures.
March 25 - 29	Spring Break - Campus Closed on Friday March 29.
May 3	Last day of classes for spring 2013.
May 4-9	Final Exams for Spring 2013. (There are no exams on Sunday, May 5th.) (See Registrar's Calendars and Schedules for full Finals information). Note: Most final exams meet in the same classroom in which the course met during the semester. Your instructor will inform you if it will be in a different room.
May 9	History Department Spring 2013 Commencement Ceremony, 5:00 pm in the Mary Rippon Amphitheatre (between the wings of Hellems).
May 10	Spring 2013 University of Colorado Combined Commencement. CU Stadium, 8:30 a.m.
